The Federal Government of Nigeria has filed a three-count charge against Nasir El-Rufai for allegedly intercepting communications of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.
- The case arises from El-Rufai’s claim during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time Programme that he and others listened to Ribadu’s phone conversations after a third-party tap.
- The Department of State Services (DSS) arraigned El-Rufai before the Federal High Court, Abuja, citing admission of the alleged interception.
- Charges are framed under Section 12(1) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, which criminalizes unlawful interception of communications.
The court proceedings are ongoing, and El-Rufai faces potential legal consequences if convicted.
