The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has cautioned members of the public against fraudulent individuals claiming to offer contracts on behalf of the Commission.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Head of Corporate Communication and Media, Eniola Akinkuotu, disclosed that unscrupulous persons have been using name-dropping and misinformation on social media to deceive unsuspecting victims.
According to him, the perpetrators’ sole objective is to extort money from members of the public, and they have been warned to desist from such illegal activities.
Akinkuotu emphasised that all contracts processed by the NUPRC are conducted transparently and strictly in compliance with the Public Procurement Act, 2007, and other applicable regulations.
“Therefore, anyone who transacts with a third party in order to gain an imaginary undue advantage within the NUPRC does so solely at their own risk,” the statement read.
The Commission advised the public to rely only on official sources for procurement information, including its website and published tender notices in national newspapers.
