The Chief Imam of Lagos has declared Wednesday, February 18, 2026, as the first day of Ramadan 1447AH.
The announcement followed confirmation from the Sultan of Sokoto that the new moon had been sighted in parts of Nigeria.
Muslims in Nigeria and across the world will begin the month-long fast, dedicating the period to prayer, reflection, charity, and spiritual renewal.
Ramadan 1447AH is expected to conclude on Thursday, March 19, 2026, with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the fasting period.
Ramadan remains one of the most significant months in Islam, fostering devotion, self-discipline, and community bonding among the faithful.
