The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in collaboration with MTN Nigeria, has launched complimentary WiFi services at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2 in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The initiative was formally unveiled on Thursday at MMIA Terminal 2 by FAAN’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by the Director of Airport Operations, Capt. Abdullahi Mahmood. The development was announced in a statement signed by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, and shared on the agency’s X account.
According to the statement, the free WiFi service is available to passengers and other airport users and will be expanded to the MMIA temporary terminal and additional international airports nationwide within the next three months.
Speaking at the event, Mahmood described the rollout as a significant achievement for FAAN and a major step forward in enhancing digital infrastructure and passenger experience at Nigerian airports. He said the partnership with MTN Nigeria highlights the impact of effective public-private collaboration in modernising infrastructure and boosting the country’s digital economy.
He further noted that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Tinubu and the reform efforts of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
Also speaking, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, who represented the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola, assured users of reliable, secure, and efficient connectivity. She praised FAAN’s leadership for its cooperation and forward-thinking approach in delivering the project.
