Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement released on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor. According to the statement, the move is aimed at strengthening communication and public engagement around government policies and programmes.
The statement noted that Johnson-Okojie, a renowned actress, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, brings nearly two decades of experience in the film industry, having featured in more than 200 productions.
It also highlighted her humanitarian efforts through the Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, which focuses on women empowerment, child welfare, education support, and healthcare initiatives.
Ikhilor expressed confidence that she would use her public profile and grassroots influence to foster closer interaction between the government and the people.
Johnson-Okojie’s husband, Odianosen Okogie, currently represents Esan North East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
