The Rivers State House of Assembly has suspended the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu following intervention by President Bola Tinubu.
The motion to halt the process was passed on Thursday during the House’s resumed sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Earlier in the year, the Assembly had initiated impeachment proceedings against the governor and his deputy, citing allegations of gross misconduct, including the demolition of the state assembly complex and unauthorized expenditures.
