The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stationed operatives across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to monitor Saturday’s local government elections.
According to the Commission, the deployment is intended to protect the integrity of the electoral process and prevent vote-buying and other electoral violations.
The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, stated that officers have been directed to maintain strict surveillance throughout all council areas. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to preventing electoral fraud and ensuring that the polls remain free and fair.
He emphasized that transparency and accountability are paramount, warning that the Commission will not tolerate any effort to undermine voters’ will through inducement or coercion.
In a statement released on Saturday, the EFCC confirmed that its personnel are fully deployed and actively monitoring the elections to ensure a credible outcome.
