The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency wishes to provide an update concerning the viral video circulating on social media about the alleged sexual assault reported by a young woman identified as Mirabel.
Following our initial statement and the significant public reaction, we were able to make contact with a close friend of the survivor, who confirmed that she has since been discharged from the hospital. We are deeply grateful to members of the public who shared useful information through our direct messages and to everyone who tagged the Agency to facilitate a prompt response.
We have now verified that the incident occurred in Ogun State and therefore falls outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency. In the interest of inter-agency cooperation and the protection of the survivor, all relevant information available to us has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities in Ogun State.
We understand that the Ogun State Police Command is currently handling the matter. We are confident that the survivor will continue to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities to ensure a comprehensive investigation and due process.
