Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks in Limankara and Kukawa, Borno State, neutralising 25 fighters and recovering 13 AK-47 rifles.
The Media Information Officer of the Theatre Command, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, said the troops, acting on weeks of intelligence backed by satellite imagery and ISR air platforms, conducted a precision operation on 22 February 2026 around Lamusheri Village in Gujba LGA, identified as a key terrorist logistics hub.
“During the ensuing firefight, 15 terrorists were neutralised while others fled with gunshot wounds. Defensive and life-support structures, five tricycles, and two vehicles used for attacks were destroyed,” Uba said.
In a related multi-pronged attack on Kukawa, militants mounted on gun trucks, motorcycles, and on foot engaged troops, but were overpowered by superior ground and air fire, resulting in the neutralisation of 10 additional fighters. One terrorist gun truck was destroyed in an air strike, killing four insurgents inside.
Following the operations, troops recovered 13 AK-47 rifles, 16 magazines, three handheld radios, terrorists’ stretchers, and shallow graves.
Regrettably, one soldier was killed in action, and some combat equipment was lost to rocket fire, while wounded personnel were evacuated by Nigerian Army Aviation helicopters and are now in stable condition.
