Justice Peter Kekemeke of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama has struck out a three‑count forgery charge filed against Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mike Ozekhome.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had arraigned the suit on January 16, 2026, alleging forgery. On January 26, the Attorney‑General of the Federation (AGF) subsequently took over the prosecution.
At the most recent hearing, counsel for the Attorney‑General, Rotimi Oyedepo, affirmed that the matter would be pursued with “the highest standard of efficiency, diligence and due process.” However, during Tuesday’s proceedings, Oyedepo filed an application to withdraw the case, explaining that the AGF’s office needed additional time to review and consolidate issues raised by multiple investigating agencies to strengthen the prosecution.
Justice Kekemeke granted the withdrawal application and struck out the suit against Ozekhome.
The decision effectively pauses the current prosecution, allowing the Attorney‑General’s office to re‑assess the evidence and legal strategy before any future action.
