The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, has announced that agency employees responsible for logistical shortfalls during the Federal Capital Territory council elections in Kuje and Kabusa will be investigated and punished if found guilty. Transporters who delayed logistics to the Kwali area council will also be blacklisted.
Amupitan made the remarks while reviewing the FCT polls with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at INEC headquarters in Abuja. The meeting, held four days after elections in the FCT, Rivers, and Kano State, also provided a platform for RECs to give feedback and discuss preparations for the 2027 general election.
The forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions attended as well, aiming to strengthen local government elections nationwide.
