Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the arraignment of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to April 23. The adjournment follows his continued detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), where he is under investigation for alleged misappropriation of funds.
The Department of State Services (DSS) filed a three-count charge against El-Rufai over the alleged unlawful interception of communications involving Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The charges stem from comments El-Rufai made during a television interview, admitting that he and other individuals allegedly listened to intercepted phone conversations.
The Federal Government is listed as the complainant, while El-Rufai is the defendant. The court had initially scheduled February 25 for the arraignment.
