Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in Dagogo Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff, urging them to approach their responsibilities with professionalism and avoid politicising their offices.
The swearing-in ceremony took place shortly after their nominations were announced. While administering the oath of office, the governor stressed that both positions are administrative in nature and centered on service delivery rather than political engagement.
Fubara cautioned the new Chief of Staff against holding unauthorized meetings or participating in political activities without his consent, emphasizing that the role is primarily to function as his principal aide and ensure the smooth coordination of government affairs.
He described the appointments as a call to serve the state, not as acts of political patronage, expressing confidence that both officials would contribute meaningfully to strengthening governance in Rivers State.
The governor encouraged the newly appointed SSG, a mathematics lecturer, to apply his academic discipline and analytical skills to promote diligence, objectivity, and accurate representation of government policies.
Reaffirming his administration’s priorities, Fubara said his government remains committed to completing ongoing projects and advancing inherited programs to secure peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of the state.
He warned that any conduct capable of tarnishing the image of the government would not be tolerated, noting that the activities of the new appointees would be closely supervised.
Fubara also directed permanent secretaries who have reached retirement age but are still in office to begin preparing their handover notes. He called for stronger collaboration within the civil service, stressing that the remaining period of his administration must be focused on productivity and collective achievement.
