Prof. Joash Amupitan, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured Nigerians that the commission is capable of electronically transmitting results for the 2027 elections. However, he cautioned that a “100% perfect election” cannot be guaranteed.
Speaking on Sunday during the Citizens’ Town Hall on the 2026 Electoral Act, Amupitan urged citizens to temper expectations. “INEC will strive to deliver the best election possible. However, perfection remains unrealistic. As far as electronic transmission of results is concerned, we have the capacity and we will transmit them. The only concern is real-time performance,” he said.
