A congressional panel of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has released video recordings of depositions by Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton in its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The former president and former secretary of state appeared before the committee last week to answer questions about their past associations with Epstein. Hillary Clinton told lawmakers she did not know Epstein personally, while Bill Clinton said he severed ties with him before Epstein’s 2008 conviction.
In his testimony, Bill Clinton stated he had done “nothing wrong.” Hillary Clinton urged the committee to also question Donald Trump under oath regarding references to him in documents related to Epstein.
Being mentioned in files released by the U.S. Department of Justice does not imply wrongdoing, and neither Bill Clinton nor Trump has been formally charged with any crime in connection to Epstein.
Bill Clinton has previously acknowledged flying on Epstein’s private plane in the early 2000s for humanitarian work linked to the Clinton Foundation but denied ever visiting Epstein’s private Caribbean island, where trafficking of minors was allegedly carried out.
Epstein, convicted in 2008 for soliciting sex from underage girls, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
The closed-door depositions took place in Chappaqua, New York, where the Clintons reside.
