The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, has assured residents of improved security across troubled communities in Benue State.
Shaibu gave the assurance on Tuesday in Makurdi during his maiden operational visit to Nigerian Army formations in the state. He disclosed that additional troops had already been deployed to reinforce ongoing operations and strengthen security outcomes in Benue.
According to the army chief, the visit was aimed at evaluating operational readiness and ensuring that formations are effectively addressing the security challenges confronting the state.
He commended the officers and soldiers for their professionalism and resilience, noting that their dedication to duty has not gone unnoticed. Shaibu reminded personnel that their foremost responsibility remains the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
Reaffirming his commitment to troop welfare, he assured soldiers that their well-being remains a top priority under his leadership. He added that the Nigerian Army would continue to provide an enabling environment for personnel to thrive in their careers.
Describing the military as a noble profession, the COAS urged troops to remain disciplined, vigilant, and mission-focused at all times. He further encouraged them to diligently execute their responsibilities and strictly adhere to lawful commands in order to strengthen national security.
