The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, has tasked troops of the 4 Special Forces Command to intensify high-impact operations aimed at decisively defeating terrorists and insurgents across the country.
Shaibu gave the directive during his maiden operational visit to the Command in Doma, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday. The visit was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele.
According to the army chief, the Nigerian Army Special Forces remain at the forefront of efforts to dismantle and neutralise criminal networks threatening national security. He stressed the importance of precision-driven and intelligence-led missions in securing operational dominance.
Shaibu urged the troops to stay proactive, adaptable and mission-oriented, noting that the evolving security landscape demands speed, surprise and superior combat preparedness. He declared that the era of reactive operations is over, warning that terrorists and violent criminals would find no safe haven anywhere within Nigeria.
During the visit, the COAS received operational briefings from the Commander, 4 Special Forces Command, Olurotimi Awolo, and the Commandant, Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Umar Faruk Abubakar.
He expressed satisfaction with the Command’s operational readiness and training standards, and approved the immediate construction of additional accommodation blocks and other critical infrastructure to boost training capacity, operational effectiveness and troop welfare.
Reaffirming his commitment to personnel welfare, Shaibu assured officers and soldiers that their well-being — and that of their families — remains a top priority. He maintained that a well-supported and professionally grounded force is essential to sustaining operational superiority, pledging continued investment in training, logistics and modern combat enablers.
In a symbolic gesture promoting environmental sustainability, the COAS and Principal Staff Officers also planted trees within the cantonment.
