NIPCO Gas Limited has unveiled plans to establish 20 additional compressed natural gas (CNG) stations across Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to the Federal Government’s clean energy drive and post-subsidy reform agenda.
Managing Director Nagendra Verma disclosed the initiative during a recent media briefing in Lagos, noting that the expansion—executed in partnership with NNPC Gas Marketing Limited—will include strategic compression hubs to strengthen nationwide distribution.
Verma highlighted that mother stations in Lekki and Ore are nearing completion, serving as key supply points for daughter stations and industrial customers. The rollout is designed to enhance access to affordable CNG infrastructure along major transport corridors and urban centres, benefiting commercial fleets, mass transit operators, and private motorists.
He emphasized that all projects are being implemented in line with regulatory and safety standards, with expected outcomes including job creation, reduced fuel costs, lower carbon emissions, and improved air quality.
Beyond the CNG expansion, NIPCO Gas is also advancing pipeline infrastructure in the South-West, including an 80-kilometre Sagamu–Ibadan pipeline slated for completion by mid-2026. This project aims to boost gas availability for industries in Ogun and Oyo states, reduce production costs, and stimulate regional economic growth.
