Vice President Kashim Shettima has vowed that the Federal Government will not permit terrorists to establish any sanctuary or occupy Nigerian territory, following renewed insurgent attacks in Borno State.
Reacting to recent incidents, including abductions in Ngoshe community and assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok, Shettima said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already ordered a swift mobilisation of Nigeria’s security architecture to confront the attackers.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima declared:
“The Federal Government will not tolerate any sanctuary for those who seek to displace our people or occupy an inch of Nigerian soil.”
He assured Nigerians that the administration would not be intimidated by insurgents’ “cowardly attempts” to undermine peace and security, stressing that additional tactical assets and intelligence-driven reinforcements are being deployed to support ongoing operations.
Commitment to Justice and Rescue
Shettima pledged that perpetrators of the attacks would face the full wrath of the law, while abducted victims would be rescued and reunited with their families. He paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty, affirming that the government would not rest until citizens are safe.
Support for Borno State
Commending the resilience of Borno residents and Governor Babagana Zulum, Shettima reiterated that Nigeria remains united and will deploy decisive force to end the violence.
“We remain one nation, tied to a common destiny. The sanctity of human life is non-negotiable. This madness will be brought to an end, not with empty words, but with the decisive and overwhelming force of the Nigerian State,” he said.
