Former Paul Scholes says he never intended to offend Michael Carrick after criticizing Manchester United’s recent performances following their 2–1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League.
Scholes had posted on Instagram that United had been poor in their last four matches despite Carrick’s results. The remark drew criticism from former teammate Patrice Evra, who suggested Scholes’ account might have been hacked.
Speaking later on the The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast with Wes Brown and Nicky Butt, Scholes clarified that he had already messaged Carrick to explain his comments.
According to Scholes, Carrick took no offence, and the two former teammates have moved past the issue.
