The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State will on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, conduct a fresh state congress to elect members of its State Working Committee (SWC).
The exercise is slated for the International Culture and Event Centre, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, with delegates from all 18 local government areas expected to participate.
The decision was conveyed in a letter jointly signed by APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the letter, the fresh congress follows an order by the Federal High Court in Akure restraining the party and INEC from conducting the earlier scheduled congress on March 3. The APC leadership explained that the issues leading to the injunction had since been resolved through internal mechanisms, paving the way for the new exercise.
“You will recall that there was an ex-parte order from the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, on Monday, March 2, 2026, restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and our party from conducting the state congress earlier scheduled for March 3, 2026. Please note that since the order was granted, we have activated our internal mechanisms and have been able to amicably resolve the issues leading to the ex-parte order,” the letter read.
A party chieftain, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the authenticity of the letter, noting that leaders across the state had been invited to attend the congress. Attempts to reach former APC spokesman in the state, Alex Kalejaye, for comment were unsuccessful.
