Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) interrogated Justice John Terhemba Tsoho on Tuesday after a large sum of cash, approximately $160,000, was allegedly found in the possession of his wife. Reports indicate that Justice Tsoho was grilled for several hours over the discovery.

His wife was reportedly intercepted by EFCC operatives while traveling to Benue State and taken back to Abuja, according to sources. The purpose of the trip and the source of the funds have not been officially clarified.
Justice Tsoho is expected to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on March 16, 2026, over allegations that he failed to declare some of his assets as required by law. Civil society activists have voiced concerns about what they describe as a possible cover-up or interference in the investigation, warning that it would be “tragic” for Justice Tsoho to continue hearing cases before the process is resolved.
There has been no official statement from Justice Tsoho or the court confirming the details of the EFCC interrogation or the source of the funds.
