Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that it successfully intercepted seven drones heading toward an oil field in the southeast of the country.
The ministry confirmed via posts on X that two drones targeting the Shaybah oil field were intercepted and destroyed. A further five drones were also intercepted and destroyed, according to separate ministry posts.
The Shaybah oil field, located near the United Arab Emirates border, is operated by Saudi Aramco, one of the world’s largest companies by market capitalization. The field plays a critical role in Saudi Arabia’s extensive oil production capacity.
