The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Air Peace to an urgent meeting scheduled for Monday following several passenger complaints and recent flight disruptions.
According to the aviation regulator, the action was prompted by reports from travellers on the Heathrow–Abuja route who were allegedly diverted through Gatwick–Lagos–Abuja, leaving some passengers stranded in Lagos.
The NCAA stated that the incident, along with other complaints involving delayed refunds, compensation issues and inadequate passenger care, led to the activation of its Consumer Protection Department.
The Authority stressed that it would not accept situations where airline operators abandon passengers who have paid for their travel.
While reiterating its support for domestic carriers, the NCAA emphasised that all airlines must strictly comply with aviation regulations and passenger protection standards.
The regulator also confirmed that a comprehensive investigation into the reported disruptions will be carried out, and appropriate sanctions will be imposed if any violations are established.
The NCAA reaffirmed its role as Nigeria’s primary civil aviation regulator and its commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of passengers and other stakeholders in the aviation industry.
