The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has clarified that the delay in deploying a Mobile Control Tower at Murtala Mohammed International Airport after the recent fire incident is due to strict aviation engineering and safety standards.
Director of Public Affairs, Dr Abdullahi Musa, stressed that air navigation infrastructure cannot be installed hastily, as compliance with operational standards is critical to safeguarding aircraft operations.
NAMA confirmed contingency measures were activated immediately after the fire to ensure uninterrupted services, while structural preparations — including excavation and concrete casting — are underway to provide a stable foundation for the temporary tower.
