The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has invited 94 candidates and several tertiary institutions to appear before virtual panels over alleged examination registration malpractices and fake certificates.
According to a statement on JAMB’s X handle, the affected candidates include those accused of soliciting or paying for illicit assistance during the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration, as well as 2025 Direct Entry applicants flagged for fake certificates by their institutions.
The virtual investigation panel for candidates is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. JAMB noted that registration numbers of the affected candidates are available on its website under Quick Links: “Solicitations Candidates”. Access passcodes for the session have been sent to candidates’ registered phone numbers. The board warned that failure to attend will be regarded as an admission of guilt.
In a separate session, heads of institutions with flagged certificates are to attend a virtual meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. The list of affected institutions is published under Quick Links: “Institutions with Outstanding Response”. Checks show 43 institutions, including polytechnics, universities, and colleges of education, with 2,638 Direct Entry results awaiting clearance, have been summoned.
This action underscores JAMB’s commitment to curbing examination malpractice and ensuring the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
