The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has deployed 4,000 personnel across Abuja to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, gave the directive as part of efforts to safeguard lives and property, as well as protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) within the territory.
According to the Corps’ spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, the operation includes specialised units such as the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, Crack Squad, CBRNE Counter-Terrorism Unit, and Agro Rangers.
Personnel have been strategically positioned across key locations including Eid prayer grounds, mosques, markets, shopping malls, motor parks, and recreational centres.
The Commandant also directed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to maintain full operational presence, emphasizing vigilance and zero tolerance for security breaches during the festive period.
He urged officers to remain disciplined, collaborate with other security agencies, and adhere strictly to rules of engagement—while avoiding harassment, intimidation, or accidental discharge.
