The Chief Imam of Lagos, Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, has directed Muslims to complete the 30 days of Ramadan fasting following the non-sighting of the Shawwal moon.
The announcement means that fasting will continue through Thursday, with Eid-el-Fitr to be observed on Friday.
The directive aligns with the position of the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, who confirmed that the new moon was not sighted, thereby extending Ramadan to 30 days.
Muslims across Lagos and its environs have been urged to prepare for Eid prayers on Friday and to mark the celebration in line with Islamic teachings.
