The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed over 53,500 personnel across Nigeria to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Commandant General, Abubakar Audi, ordered the nationwide deployment of tactical operatives and intelligence teams across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to boost security and protect critical national assets.
According to the corps, the move is part of proactive efforts to tackle potential threats and maintain order during the festive period. Security presence has been heightened in key locations such as prayer grounds, shopping centres, motor parks, and other public spaces, with both uniformed and undercover officers on duty.
The NSCDC also directed its commanders at all levels to ensure effective coverage, increased patrols, and close collaboration with other security agencies to respond swiftly to emergencies.
The Federal Government has declared public holidays to mark the celebration, which signifies the end of Ramadan.
