Iran has intensified its attacks on Gulf energy infrastructure, striking oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the latest escalation of the ongoing regional conflict.
Drone strikes hit a major refinery in the Saudi Red Sea city of Yanbu, while additional attacks triggered fires at two key refineries in Kuwait. Authorities in both countries confirmed the incidents, noting that emergency response teams were deployed and the situation brought under control.
The attacks come a day after significant damage was reported at Qatar’s Ras Laffan gas facility, following retaliatory actions by Iran over earlier strikes on its South Pars gas field.
The targeted Saudi refinery serves as a critical alternative export route, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, which has been heavily affected by the conflict.
The escalation has further rattled global energy markets, with oil prices continuing to climb amid fears of prolonged disruption. Benchmark Brent crude surged past $115 per barrel on Thursday, reflecting growing concerns over supply instability.
