The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, and former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, have urged Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, citing his reforms and economic policies as vital to the country’s development.
The appeal was made during an interfaith prayer session organised by The Mandate Movement in Ikeja to mark the President’s 74th birthday.
Speaking at the gathering, Obasa stressed that extending Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027 is essential to sustain the progress achieved under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the President’s policies have begun reshaping Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
He added that the event was not only to pray for Tinubu’s continued leadership but also for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and growth.
Obasa highlighted key initiatives of the administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has boosted state revenues, and the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, which has expanded access to higher education. He also pointed to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a major infrastructure project with strong economic and tourism potential.
He further praised the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her Renewed Hope Initiative, noting its impact through food support, women-focused agricultural programmes, economic empowerment efforts, and digital learning centres.
Obasa called on Nigerians to back Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Ambode commended Tinubu’s leadership and legacy, urging citizens to support his re-election bid to ensure the full benefits of his reforms are realised. He added that the President has stabilised the nation and its economy, expressing optimism about continued progress.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tayo Ayinde, praised Tinubu’s economic reforms and called for nationwide support for his continued leadership.
Other speakers, including Stephen Ogundipe and Lanre Ogunyemi, urged Nigerians to recognise the President’s achievements and support his re-election, while also praying for his continued health.
The event drew political leaders, stakeholders, party members, community figures, and religious leaders from across Lagos State.
