President Bola Tinubu has revealed that France will support Nigeria with military equipment and training following a recent phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.
The President made this known during a meeting with state governors in Lagos, noting that the agreement was reached after extensive discussions with Macron.
He explained that Nigeria is ready to utilise its diplomatic goodwill and available credit facilities to secure the necessary equipment and training needed to strengthen its security forces.
Tinubu stressed that insecurity remains a major challenge facing the country and called for collective efforts to tackle terrorism and other threats.
He also disclosed that military equipment acquisition was a key focus of his recent engagements abroad, including discussions during his visit to the United Kingdom.
The development comes amid renewed security concerns following recent attacks in parts of the country, with the Federal Government pledging increased investment in logistics, technology, and operational support for security agencies.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, the President emphasised that defeating terrorism and criminal activities remains a top priority.
