Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, on Sunday visited Kaduna as part of his ongoing nationwide consultations, engaging stakeholders from both the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress.
During the visit, Obi met with key political figures, including Dr. Ahmed Tijjani and Senator Lawal Adamu, noting that the interaction allowed him to assess the political climate in the state, which he described as crucial to Nigeria’s development.
He said the engagement revealed not just political ambition among stakeholders, but a genuine commitment to public service and national rebuilding.
Obi highlighted Kaduna’s historical significance as a symbol of unity and a former hub for industry, agriculture, and commerce, while lamenting its decline over the years. He expressed confidence that the state could regain its lost prominence with disciplined and people-focused leadership.
The former Anambra governor also stressed the importance of national unity, warning that division remains a major barrier to progress.
He further criticised the growing influence of money in politics, urging leaders to prioritise competence, character, and measurable performance.
Obi expressed optimism about the country’s future, stating that his consultations across the nation continue to reinforce his belief that a better Nigeria is achievable.
