The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has begun a statewide assessment of hospitals under the ILERA EKO scheme to ensure readiness for the Mandatory Social Health Insurance Executive Order.
Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, said the audit focuses on:
- Facility compliance with ILERA EKO standards
- Enrollment of uninsured and vulnerable patients
- Appointment of dedicated officers for the scheme
- Deployment of digital access points and complaint resolution systems
The move aligns with Lagos’ push for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), ensuring all residents have access to affordable healthcare. LASHMA currently oversees 765 providers, including public hospitals, private hospitals, nursing homes, and teaching hospitals.
Residents are urged to enroll in ILERA EKO to benefit from comprehensive healthcare services, covering over 75% of common medical visits in the state.
