Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as the ideal platform to drive meaningful change in Nigeria.
Kwankwaso, who resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Sunday, received his ADC membership card at an event at his Miller Road residence, Kano, and urged all members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement to register with the ADC and actively participate in its activities.
“ADC offers the best opportunity to drive meaningful change, particularly in Kano State,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to democratic values, good governance, and the collective aspirations of Nigerians.
The high-profile defection event was attended by political heavyweights including former Senate President David Mark, Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun.
ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, welcomed Kwankwaso, calling it “a special day in our journey to make Nigeria a better and more united country.” Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also applauded the move, posting: “When men of conviction come together, power trembles. Welcome aboard, @KwankwasoRM.”
The defection marks a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, positioning the ADC as a rising opposition force.
