The Adebayo Adelabu has dismissed reports claiming he resigned from office, describing the claims as false and misleading amid speculation over his political future ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement shared via his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu reaffirmed his commitment to resolving Nigeria’s electricity challenges and continuing his responsibilities in the power sector. He emphasized that while political ambitions are a personal matter, his immediate focus remains service at the national level.
“The news of the minister’s resignation is fake. There is no truth to it,” Tunji said, sharing images of a purported resignation letter labeled “fake news.” Adelabu further noted that decisions about any potential gubernatorial contest in Oyo State will be made within the stipulated timeline, prioritizing national service in the interim.
The clarification comes after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed political appointees seeking elective office in 2027 to resign by March 31, 2026, in line with the Electoral Act and INEC timelines.
