A former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has officially resigned from the ruling party.
In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the APC chairman in his ward in Nassarawa Local Government Area, Gawuna described his decision as “voluntary and personal.”
The former deputy governor expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity to serve, noting that he remains grateful for the platform the party provided during his time in office.
However, he did not reveal his next political move, sparking speculation about his future alignment amid ongoing political realignments in Kano State.
Sources indicate that Gawuna is expected to meet with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, further fueling talks of a possible shift ahead of future elections.
His resignation comes as key political figures in Kano continue to reposition in preparation for upcoming electoral contests.
