The Lagos State Police Command has announced the immediate withdrawal of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) from all traffic control and enforcement duties across the state.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, the directive is aimed at streamlining traffic management operations while promoting professionalism, accountability, and clarity in the discharge of responsibilities.
The Command clarified that although the Taskforce has been relieved of traffic-related duties, all other operational responsibilities of the unit remain in effect.
Residents and motorists were also advised to verify the identity of enforcement personnel, noting that multiple taskforces operate within Lagos State.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, urging the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with legitimate security agencies.
