Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has urged Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to take immediate action to address the recurring attacks in Plateau State.
In a statement, the senator described the latest Angwan Rukuba attack in Jos North LGA as a brutal reminder that Nigerians remain unprotected. She demanded the Defence Chief move beyond condolences and deliver results or step aside.
The attack on Sunday night saw gunmen on motorcycles target a busy junction, an open-air bar, and nearby residential areas, including student hostels of the University of Jos, leaving scores dead and many injured.
This comes weeks after armed bandits ambushed a security patrol in Garga, Kanam LGA, killing at least 20 security personnel. Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the attacks, imposed a 48-hour curfew, and deployed additional security to restore order.
Lawmakers and citizens continue to express frustration over persistent insecurity across Plateau and other states.
