Senegal will once again parade the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy in front of home fans during their international friendly against Gambia at the Stade Abdoulaye Wade.
According to the Senegalese Football Federation, the trophy presentation will take place as part of a pre-match ceremony featuring entertainment and live performances before kickoff.
This move underscores Senegal’s continued defiance of the decision by the Confederation of African Football to strip them of the AFCON 2025 title.
The controversy stems from the final held in Rabat, Morocco, where Senegal protested a penalty decision before eventually winning 1–0 after extra time. However, CAF’s appeals board later ruled that Senegal forfeited the match, awarding Morocco a 3–0 victory and the title.
Senegal has rejected the ruling, describing it as unfair and unprecedented, and has taken the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Meanwhile, Morocco maintains that the decision is final and has called for the return of the trophy.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Senegal continues to publicly celebrate the title, with the latest parade reinforcing their stance as the case remains unresolved.
