President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kaduna State, describing them as “barbaric and cowardly.”
The President said the killings and abductions, including those targeting wedding guests in Kaduna, are a direct affront to Nigeria’s values, assuring citizens that those responsible will be brought to justice.
He warned that such attacks on vulnerable communities are aimed not only at causing harm but also at triggering reprisals and escalating violence.
Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and clamp down on the spread of misinformation that could worsen tensions. He also cautioned against unverified claims suggesting religious motives behind the attacks.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace, the President stressed the importance of public cooperation, including adherence to evacuation and safety directives. He also called for the immediate rescue of remaining abductees in Kaduna.
Tinubu commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their response efforts and assured both states of federal support. He added that the government is investing in advanced security technology to strengthen real-time tracking and response to criminal activities.
