An Abuja-based company, Stone Rockers Limited, has filed a ₦5 billion lawsuit against the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps over the alleged unlawful shutdown of its operations and seizure of equipment.
The suit, filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Olalekan Ojo, names the NSCDC, its Commandant General, and one Attah John Onoja as defendants.
According to the plaintiff, NSCDC operatives abused their statutory powers by sealing off its quarry site without a court order. The site, located in Barmishi Village, Kuje Area Council of Abuja, is said to be legally backed by Quarry Lease No. 37326.
The company alleged that the shutdown, which occurred on July 24, 2025, followed claims of land encroachment involving another firm. It further accused NSCDC officials of forcibly confiscating its equipment without judicial authorization on August 16, 2025.
In its claims, Stone Rockers Limited is asking the court to declare that:
- The shutdown of its operations was unlawful, arbitrary, and ultra vires.
- The seizure of its property amounted to an illegal interference with its business activities.
The company is also seeking:
- ₦5 billion in damages for losses incurred.
- Immediate return of all confiscated equipment.
- An order restraining the defendants from further interference.
- Permission to resume operations without hindrance.
The case has been assigned to Justice Mohammed Garuba Umar and is scheduled for hearing on May 19, 2026.
