Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, has directed frontline troops to engage terrorists decisively, including a shoot-on-sight order, as part of renewed efforts to tackle insecurity in the North-East.
Speaking during a visit to Maiduguri, alongside Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle, Musa said new military strategies have been deployed to end insurgency across the region.
The visit follows renewed attacks by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in parts of the North-East, particularly Borno State.
Musa commended troops for their sacrifices and resilience, urging them to remain disciplined and focused in the fight against terrorism. He emphasized that troops must act decisively in the line of duty without hesitation.
He also disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the procurement of additional military equipment, including aircraft and drones, to strengthen operations and improve effectiveness in combating insurgents.
