Former Nasir El-Rufai has withdrawn his fundamental rights enforcement suit against a chief magistrate at the FCT Magistrate’s Court in the ₦1 billion case.
Counsel Ugochukwu Nnakwu informed Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court Abuja that a motion was filed to remove the magistrate as the 2nd defendant, following the judge’s observation that the suit failed to specify the magistrate’s identity.
The court struck out the magistrate’s name and the earlier motion ex parte. Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the case to June 17, 2026, allowing El-Rufai to amend the suit. The former governor is seeking ₦1 billion in damages against the ICPC, the magistrate, IGP Olatunji Disu, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, named as respondents.
