The Senate of Nigeria has directed the Inspector General Olatunji Disu to launch a full investigation into the recent attacks in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, which left at least 28 people dead.
The upper chamber also resolved to send a high-powered delegation, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to the affected communities to commiserate with victims.
The motion, raised by Senators Diket Plang and Dachung Mwadkon, highlighted the escalating insecurity in Kanam and Jos North, noting coordinated attacks targeting civilians and joint security patrols.
The Senate called for enhanced intelligence, aerial surveillance, and permanent operational bases in volatile areas. It also urged increased recruitment into the police and military and requested the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to provide relief materials to displaced persons.
