The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday declared three senatorial seats vacant following the deaths of lawmakers representing Enugu North, Nasarawa North, and Rivers South-East senatorial districts.
Speaking during plenary, Senator Akpabio noted that the vacancies arise from the unfortunate demise of colleagues and are in accordance with constitutional provisions. He directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)to conduct by-elections within the constitutionally stipulated timeframe of 30 days to fill the vacant seats.
