President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), succeeding Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
The President has also approved the renewal of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz’s tenure as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term. Both appointments take immediate effect.
Prior to this role, Professor Aliyu served as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. A respected academic and experienced administrator, he brings extensive expertise in research, education, and institutional leadership. His appointment highlights the administration’s resolve to strengthen critical institutions in the petroleum sector and boost capacity development within Nigeria’s energy industry.
President Tinubu has tasked him with leveraging his experience to reposition the PTDF for enhanced performance in human capital development, innovation, and strategic support for the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities.
The renewal of Engr. Abdulaziz’s appointment follows a thorough review of his performance in managing the country’s transmission network. Under his leadership, the TCN has achieved significant progress in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and system modernization, reinforcing its importance in Nigeria’s electricity value chain.
With over 30 years of experience in the power sector, Engr. Abdulaziz has also contributed to strengthening regional electricity integration through his role in the West African Power Pool (WAPP).
President Tinubu has urged both appointees to carry out their duties with diligence, integrity, and a deep commitment to national service, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
