A combined drone and missile strike has claimed one life and left four others critically injured in Russia’s southern Rostov region, according to local authorities. The incident also resulted in damage to a cargo vessel in the Sea of Azov.
The drone strike occurred in the port city of Taganrog, where Governor Yuri Slyusar reported via Telegram that the injured victims were in serious condition.
He added that a missile hit a commercial facility, causing further destruction.
Authorities also confirmed that debris from intercepted drones struck a foreign cargo ship in the Sea of Azov, sparking a fire. Air defence systems were able to shoot down several drones over Taganrog Bay and nearby areas.
The governor did not disclose who was responsible for the attack.
Ukraine has frequently launched strikes inside Russian territory in response to ongoing Russian assaults, which have continued since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
The incident follows a separate wave of Russian strikes a day earlier that reportedly killed 14 people in Ukraine.
