The Kwara State Police Command has intensified security across the state ahead of the Easter celebrations, deploying officers to key locations to ensure a peaceful and incident-free holiday.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, officers have been stationed at churches, event centres, highways, recreational spots, and other public areas.
The move is aimed at protecting lives and property while maintaining law and order throughout the festive period.
In addition, patrol teams and tactical units have been mobilised to boost surveillance and provide swift response to any security threats.
The deployment covers all parts of the state, with particular focus on areas expected to attract large crowds during the celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee their safety.
“We are fully prepared for the Easter celebrations. Our officers are on ground at strategic points, and we remain committed to protecting lives and property,” he said.
He also directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical unit heads to strengthen visibility policing and sustain intelligence-driven operations across their areas.
The police chief emphasised the importance of maintaining a high level of alertness and professionalism, urging officers to respect citizens’ rights while carrying out their duties.
He further highlighted ongoing collaboration with community and religious leaders to enhance coordination and ensure the safety of worshippers and residents.
Residents were advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
Parents and guardians were also urged to closely monitor their children during the festivities.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and wished Christians across the state a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
