The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has announced an indefinite strike set to begin at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The decision follows tensions with the Federal Government over the suspension of the revised Professional Allowance Table—an agreement reached after the 2025 industrial action. The announcement was made after an emergency NEC meeting, with NARD President Dr. Shuaibu Ibrahim describing the move as “unfortunate.”
The strike is expected to disrupt healthcare services nationwide as doctors demand full implementation of agreed allowances, including call duty, shift, and rural posting incentives.
